The election results are in, and the CCA's in Alberta
have chosen Steven DeVries as their newly elected provincial rep.
Steven graduated in 2001 from the University of Alberta with a B.Sc. in Crop Science. Following graduation, he went to work
for Aventis CropScience (now Bayer) on a contract basis for 6 months on the canola breeding side. In November 2001, Steven started his
current job as the agronomist for Neerlandia Co-op. This position allows Steven to consult with customers growing mostly wheat, canola,
peas, barley and other minor crops.
Steven has had his CCA designation since 2002 and feels the CCA program is important to the agriculture industry. Setting
benchmark standards for crop advisers protects the industry. In addition, CCA's automatically have a network of advisers to bounce
ideas off of, and customers can be confident they are getting sound advice. Consumers in return can also be confident that their
food is safe.
Steven feels strongly that the role of the Prairie CCA Board is to continue to build awareness of what the CCA program brings to the
agriculture industry.
Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists (SIA) Rep
Dave Cubbon works in the ag-retail sector for Cavalier Agrow in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. Being part of the northern agricultural
community in Meadow Lake has presented many challenges but it has also offered many rewards.
Dave feels strongly that becoming part of the Prairie CCA Board is another way that he can contribute back to the industry that has
provided him with an exciting and a challenging job throughout his working career.
Educational Institute Rep
Terry Tollefson joined the Prairie CCA Board in October 2011 and currently works at the University of Saskatchewan.
